Working at Arda
Arda is developing therapeutics to eliminate the pathogenic cells that drive chronic diseases. We are located in the San Francisco Bay Area. Our mission is clear, our commitment is strong, and our expectations are high. Come build with us.
What we value
Rigor
Decisions are based on data. Persuasive arguments are built from evidence and logic, not from authority. We are clear about what we know and what we don’t, but being rigorous doesn’t mean waiting until every "i" is dotted and "t" is crossed before taking action. We move forward with measured risk when necessary and are open to re-evaluating as new data emerges. We balance thoroughness with agility, knowing that timely decisions help us deliver solutions to patients as quickly as possible.
Impact
We measure outputs, not inputs. In other words, we’re more interested in what you achieve than how long you spend doing it. We think carefully about where to put our goalposts, and once placed, we drive toward them with zeal. Value comes from what you contribute, not just what’s on your resume.
Grit
Doing science means being wrong, a lot. We value progress over perfection, embracing challenges as an opportunity for growth. We approach our work with a positive, can-do attitude, ready to tackle any challenge with enthusiasm. At the same time, we're clear-eyed about the obstacles we face. We don’t sugarcoat the difficulties ahead, but instead, we harness optimism to fuel creative solutions and keep moving forward, believing in our ability to make a difference while staying grounded in the reality of the task. We persevere.
Knowledge Sharing
Information is as crucial to us as blood is to the body—it needs to flow freely or things start to go wrong. We actively promote the free exchange of ideas and information because people make better decisions when they have the full picture. We pride ourselves on both our dedication to transparency and our commitment to recording and organizing knowledge so that it can be understood and used by others.
Adaptability
Flexibility is how small teams thrive, and we jump in where we’re needed, not just where we’re assigned. When the work demands it, we learn new skills instead of saying “I don’t know how to do that.” We understand that needs and priorities will shift, we face change calmly, and we aim to restore stability rather than lean into swirl.
Ownership
We act like Arda is ours, because in a real sense it is: the company succeeds or fails based on how consistently we take responsibility for outcomes. Ownership means noticing what’s broken or missing, and treating it as our problem to solve. We don’t wait for perfect clarity, permission, or an “owner” to appear - we surface issues early, propose solutions, and follow through until the job is done. Rather than defaulting to “is this my job?”, we ask ourselves what the mission needs, and we step in accordingly. In a fast-moving startup, handoffs and ambiguity can kill momentum; ownership keeps us moving, keeps work high-quality, and ensures that the hard problems actually get solved.
